| Emilio Cruz was born in New York City in 1938. During the 1960's he showed with contemporaries such as Lester Johnson,
Jay Milder and Bob Thompson. In 1970 he moved to Chicago where he taught painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for twelve years. Back in New York he became the founder and artistic director of Spectacle Inc., a multimedia theater production company incorporating paintings, films, poetry, movement and music. Public collections include: the National Museum of American Art, Washington DC, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Joseph H. Hirshorn Museum,
