| Peter Dean was born in Berlin, Germany on July 9, 1934. When he was four, the family fled the Nazi terror and came to New York. He attended Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin. He worked as a geologist for ten years. In New York he studied with Andre Girard and at the Pratt Graphic Arts Center. Peter is one of the original Rhino Horn
artists and writes in the White Catalogue from 1970 "I am of the future but worship an ancient god". In 1981 he received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and in 1984 he was chosen to attend the Venice Biennial where one of his Wianno landscapes was featured. Selected collections include: the Art Institute of Chicago, the Denver Art Museum and the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC. |
