| Robert DeNiro was born in Syracuse, New York in 1916. He studied with Ralph Peterson, Hans Hoffmann and Joseph Albers from 1938-1942. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1968 and residency awards at McDowell and Yaddo Art Colonies. Selected group exhibitions include a two year traveling show organized by Art Museum Association of America and curated by April Kingsley. The exhibition catalogue was entitled
"Emotional Impact: New York School/Figurative Expressionism". Selected public collections include: the Brooklyn Museum, the Joseph H. Hirshorn Museum, Washington DC, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. And yes, he was the father of the famous actor who bears his name. |
